Born in Brisbane, Queensland, Jacob was raised in a working-class family by his parents Melissa Elordi, a stay-at-home mom who was also an employee at his school. His father, John Elordi is a house painter who built the family house whilst Jacob has four other siblings – an older brother and three older sisters.

John had immigrated to Australia from the Basque Country when he was merely 8 years old. 

When he attended school, Jacob was a player in his school’s rugby team, and in between he also took time to perform in school musicals such as Seussical and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Soon enough, he started taking acting classes, and then eventually he tried his hand at modeling after his mother suggested doing so at 15, but he was turned down for being ‘too tall’ to wear the sample clothes. Jacob attended the private all-boys Roman Catholic secondary school of St. Kevin’s College and St. Joseph’s College but he felt very unsettled here, and he had mentioned that he had barely managed to complete high school. 

Throughout his years in secondary school, Jacob continued to play rugby until he ended up with a broken bone in his back during a match. This was the final straw for him which pushed him away from athletics and towards acting.

Career

Jacob had his first acting role in the Australian film ‘Swinging Safari’ back in 2018 wherein he played the role of Rooster. Because of his skill and dedication, he was noticed by producers and thus he went on to star in the Netflix romantic-comedy film ‘The Kissing Booth’ which premiered in May 2018 as a bad-boy jock guy named Noah Flyn, the protagonist’s love interest.
